As business owners, we often find ourselves seeking guidance and direction in our entrepreneurial pursuits. We analyze data, consult with experts, and rely on past experiences to make important decisions for our companies. However, in the midst of all the noise and chaos, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose. As believers, we understand that our businesses are not just about profits and success, but also about glorifying God and fulfilling His will for our lives. In this post, we’ll explore the idea of running a business according to God’s will and how we can align our strategies with divine direction. Together, we will navigate the challenges and rewards of incorporating our faith and trust in God into our businesses, and discover practical ways to seek God’s guidance and wisdom in our decision-making process. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for years, this post will offer insights and strategies to help you integrate your faith and work.
The key to success in business or any aspect of life is to seek God’s wisdom first. No matter the challenges we face, we should always consult God and seek His guidance. His wisdom is beyond measure, and it will help us make the right decisions and avoid making costly mistakes. So yes, ask a lot of REAL questions! He will give you the answer you need in any vessel He chooses, and yes it may not even come from a “religious” thing. He may use the media, a song, a license plate, a billboard, an animal, a thought, and even your enemy. Be open to hearing His voice through any way necessary and trust that you hear from Him because a stranger’s voice you will not follow.
The next BIG thing is to make sure you don’t act quickly when it comes to big decisions, but be led by the Spirit of God. There is a misunderstanding about judging a “prophetic word” or “word of knowledge”, but it is actually biblical to look at the answers and weigh it out. It might come to you in many forms, but it is how you respond to what you are hearing that really makes a difference. God is calling us to be living sons and daughters who are allowed to interact with their loving Father in heaven.
“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”- Hebrews 5:14
Invest some time in asking and hearing God for a confirming word. What you are looking for would be more like a witness. Confirmation from several sources such as the Word of God, a random call from a Spiritual Mentor or Business Advisor, or an article in the newspaper, for example.
Additionally, we should always trust in God’s provision and have faith that He will provide us with what we need when we need it. You don’t have to have everything figured out. As a planner, this has been the most difficult for me, but as I grew in my walk with the Lord, I have learned that once you do the first step, He will give you the next step. Be present in the moment, and don’t overwhelm yourself with the things unknown because He knows our future and every step we need to take to fulfill His assignment for us.
Furthermore, we must follow God’s moral standards in all aspects of our lives, including our business practices. We should always strive to operate ethically and with integrity, treating our employees, customers, and partners with respect and fairness. Embracing humility and integrity is essential in building trust with those we work with and serve. It also helps us maintain a good reputation and be a positive influence in the community. This seems obvious but unfortunately there have been many in the body of Christ who have compromised and created “gray areas” which the Word of God clearly states as “black and white.”
One of the most critical aspects of running a successful business is serving our customers with love. As we interact with them, we should show genuine care and concern for their needs and interests. We should go the extra mile to ensure they are satisfied with our products and services. As we extend love to our customers, we build loyalty and long-lasting relationships that benefit our business. Remember that the very essence of the Father is love, so that is what we need to exemplify in all our interactions. They will know us by our fruits.
In conclusion, running a business according to God’s will requires more than just good intentions or faith alone. It requires a deliberate effort to seek divine direction and guidance at every step of the way. By putting God first, cultivating a relationship with Him, and aligning your business goals with His purpose, you can create a successful and fulfilling business that glorifies God and serves the needs of others. It may not always be easy, but with faith, prayer, and a willingness to follow God’s lead, you can achieve extraordinary results and make a positive impact in the world.
